Basic Thought of Switching Power Supply Transformer Design

Switching power transformer is composed of inductance coils, so it follows the operation rules of inductor completely. It can connect primary transformer in series or secondary transformer in series. It can connect primary transformer in parallel or secondary transformer in parallel.

Specific Method of Switching Power Supply Transformer Design

1.The secondary series connection of power transformer. The secondary series connection of power transformer is a combination of two or more transformers when the single power is satisfied and the secondary output voltage is not satisfied. If the primary input of the two transformers is 220V and the secondary output is 18V, if 33V voltage is supplied to the load, the secondary of the two transformers can be connected in series for application. The secondary series connection of power transformer is also easy. Different secondary outputs can be applied in series if the power of a single transformer is guaranteed. When the initial input voltage of multiple transformers is the same under ideal conditions, the total output formula is: V total = V initial single/(V1 + V2 +... Vn times).

2.The primary parallel connection of transformer. This situation is a common example in our life. The remote control transformer and the main transformer (power switch transformer) in many old color TV sets with different power supply belong to the primary parallel connection of transformers.

3. The secondary parallel connection of transformer. The secondary parallel connection of power transformer is applied when the secondary output voltage of a single transformer is the same and the single power cannot be satisfied. Its application is to superimpose secondary currents of multiple transformers to meet the power requirements of the load. The secondary parallel connection of power transformer can make the output power be the sum of the power of multiple transformers. The series-parallel application of power transformer is independent of linear power supply circuit and circuit. In the previous linear power supply circuit, there are more examples of secondary cascade application, such as the reverse transformer in TV, which is the use of transformer secondary cascade. In high-power switching power supply, secondary parallel connection is used more. For example, the secondary transformers are often connected in parallel in switching power supply of hundreds of Watts to increase power.
